The Latin American Protein Society is formed by a group of researchers in Latin America that, since 2004, organizes a protein meeting every three years with the stamp of the Protein Society. The meeting is regular and so far, we had four editions:
-2004 - I LAPS Meeting - Angra dos Reis - Brazil
-2007 - II LAPS Meeting - Mexico
-2010 - III LAPS Meeting - Salta - Argentina
-2013 - IV LAPS Meeting - Puerto Varas - Chile
The meeting became traditional and has been essential to the development of science in Brazil, Latin America.
Proteins are the most abundant molecules in living organisms, after water. They are essential and directly participate in almost all biological events in living beings.
The study of proteins is complex and multidisciplinary. It involves from physical studies, such as X-ray diffraction and nuclear magnetic resonance to studies of cellular events by cell biologists. The events of the Latin American Protein Society promote multidisciplinary environment favorable to catalyze the findings in the area of proteins.
